USAFL International Program Appoints Jason Becker as Head of Football

The USAFL International Program (IP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Becker as Head of Football, a key leadership role responsible for guiding the football department for the USA Freedom and USA Revolution national teams. With more than twenty-five years of experience as a player, coach, administrator, and program-builder across American footy, Becker steps into this new position with a deep, proven commitment to both elite performance and community-driven development.

As Head of Football, Becker will oversee football activities and standards across the national-team programs including coaching alignment, player development, performance analysis, game preparation, wellbeing and culture, and cross-domain collaboration. This role will complement and work in partnership with Cari Greving’s Head of Operations role, which handles off-field operations of the IP. Jason’s focus will be to support the coaches, analysts, staff, and volunteers nationwide to create a unified, high-performance environment grounded in accessibility, communication, and shared resources.

Becker brings extensive leadership experience to the role. He has served as a long-time assistant coach for the USA Revolution across multiple international competitions; co-founded and coached the Minnesota Freeze; and most recently led the Skills Domain within the IP’s Shared Services group, where he designed frameworks, drills, analysis processes, and development systems adopted by national-team players and coaches across the country. His work has emphasized modern coaching standards, role clarity, volunteer-friendly systems, and an athlete-first culture.

“Jason brings an unparalleled breadth of knowledge and experience to this role,” said Dan Sarbacker, Lead of the International Program. “His decades in the game as a player, coach, builder, mentor, and strategist, give him a holistic understanding of what it takes to support athletes and coaches at the highest level. Just as importantly, Jason embodies the community-driven spirit that defines Aussie Rules in the US. His leadership and support of the Freedom and Revolution coaches and guidance of the Shared Services group will strengthen our on-field activities as we prepare for international competition.”

Becker has long been recognized for his ability to bridge high-performance standards with inclusive, positive team culture. Such an approach has shaped his coaching, skills development work, and administrative leadership across the USAFL community.

“I’m honored to step into this role and continue supporting the athletes, coaches, and volunteers who make our national teams possible,” said Jason Becker. “Aussie Rules Football in the states thrives because people across the country care deeply about our great game and each other. My goal is to help unify our football activities, strengthen our development pathways, and build environments where players and coaches can succeed. I’m excited to work with Dan, the IP team, and our national-team coaches to push the program forward together.”

Becker will begin transitioning into the role immediately, collaborating with coaches, domain leads, and support staff as planning begins for 2026 national team activities. Be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities throughout the IP as Jason and Cari expand their teams!
