The USAFL is proud to announce the extension of its major partnership with Tasmania through 2030. This renewed five-year commitment continues a dynamic collaboration that celebrates sport, culture, and international connection.
The announcement was made by Guy Barnett, Tasmania’s Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, who emphasized the strategic value of the partnership in promoting Tasmanian excellence across tourism, trade, and talent attraction.
“The USAFL National Championships, held each October, is among the largest AFL tournaments in the world, featuring over 80 matches and 50 teams from across the country,” Minister Barnett said. “This is more than a sporting partnership—it’s a gateway to one of our most important international markets.”
Tasmania’s presence at the USAFL Nationals has become a hallmark of the event, showcasing the TASMANIAN brand to thousands of athletes and spectators. From iconic Blundstone boots to award-winning Jansz sparkling wine, Tasmanian products are front and center at the tournament, offering a taste of the island’s innovation, heritage, and natural beauty. Launceston umpire Kaleb Lee returned for his fourth consecutive year as an umpire at the national tournament—further strengthening the people-to-people ties between Tasmania and the USAFL community.
USAFL Executive Director, Doren James welcomed the extension, saying: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Tasmania. Their support over recent years has opened valuable opportunities for our players and clubs and helped us reach new audiences. With Tasmania’s continued commitment, we will be able to expand our efforts to grow Australian Rules football across the United States.”
With the Tasmanian Devils set to join the AFLW in 2027 and the AFL in 2028, the extended sponsorship also offers a unique opportunity to grow the Tasmanian supporter base in the United States and deepen engagement with fans of Australian football.
The USAFL thanks the Tasmanian Government, Minister Barnett, and all Tasmania partners for their commitment to growing the game and promoting Tasmanian excellence on the international stage.
