About the Role
The Head of Football leads the football department for the USAFL’s U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams under the International Program (IP). This role ensures a coordinated, professional, and inclusive environment that supports players, coaches, and support staff in representing the United States at the highest level of international football. It works in partnership with the Head of Operations and reports to the Head of IP.
The position brings together key areas of football operations — coaching, player development, wellbeing, and game preparation — under a unified vision that reflects the organization’s community values and commitment to growth of the game in the U.S. and abroad.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Coordination – Oversee the football department across both the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, ensuring alignment in preparation, standards, and culture.
- Football Operations – Work with coaching and operations staff to support player selection processes, team activities, and overall program delivery.
- Coaching and Development – Support coaches in maintaining consistent player development approaches and modern football practices.
- Player Wellbeing – Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and wellbeing, ensuring players and staff have access to appropriate support resources.
- Game Preparation and Analysis – Encourage use of performance data, video review, and opposition analysis to support continuous improvement.
- Compliance and Governance – Ensure football activities align with organizational policies, codes of conduct, and international competition standards.
- Collaboration and Communication – Foster clear communication among coaches, support staff, and program leadership; contribute to strategic planning within the International Program.
- Community and Culture – Contribute to the codifying and subsequently embody and promote the organization’s values.
