The Seattle Grizzlies were initially founded as the Seattle Jets in October 1998 and played their first competitive matches in 1999. In their debut season at USAFL Nationals, the club finished third. Each year since then, the Grizzlies have been represented in the USA’s premier Australian Rules Football tournament. The women’s team first appeared as 3 individuals in 2016, and by 2017 Nationals traveled a full D1 side. The Seattle Grizzlies maintain a strong presence in local, regional and national competitions competing in the British Columbia Australian Football League (BCAFL) during the home and away season while also traveling nationally to play other USAFL teams from major cities. They have an active Aussie Rules Rec competition, and an aspiring Aussie Rules Next (Gen) program.
