The Maine Cats were originally founded in 2018. Hailing from Portland, they are named after the Maine Coon Cat, a large breed of cat that originated in Maine, and is the official state cat. They have partnered closely with their nearest neighbors, the Boston Demons, to focus on the development of Aussie Rules in the NE United States. Often, they compete across the northern border against the Halifax Dockers from AFL Canada.
