Leigh Barnes started the club in Santa Cruz, CA in 1997 and soon moved the team to the San Francisco Bay Area where he started a four team competition with a number of friends and expats. Soon the league grew to be the largest Aussie Rules Rec competition in the USA, highlighted by a feature on Australia TV due to its popularity and quality.
