USAFL Foundation
The USAFL Foundation was launched in 2020. The Foundation’s mission is to provide ongoing financial assistance for the development of Aussie Rules in the United States.

Secure our Future
The USAFL Foundation
The Foundation will act as an annual funding mechanism to the USAFL, a USAFL emergency fund for extreme situations, and to support the growth of Aussie Rules in the United States.
We are now in our third decade which is about “Securing the Future”.
Each year the Foundation will support development activities, identified by the USAFL Board, that support the USAFL’s mission of growing Aussie Rules in the USA.
For any questions on the Foundation, please email Paul “Plugger” O’Keeffe at paul@usafl.com.

It All Began in 1996
USAFL History
The story kicks off in the late ’90s, when a handful of Aussies introduced some adventurous Americans to Aussie Rules and they thought, “Crikey, this sport RULES!” They were drawn to the sport’s unique blend of speed, skill, and physicality. It didn’t take long for these Aussie Rules pioneers to start spreading the word and forming teams across the country. By 1997, the United States Australian Football League (USAFL) was born, a grassroots movement that would grow faster than a Joey in springtime.
Fast forward to today, and the USAFL has blossomed into a vibrant community with over 50 clubs with men’s and women’s teams from coast to coast. It’s a melting pot of players from all walks of life, united by their love for the game. From the sun-drenched fields of California to the bustling parks of New York, Aussie Rules has found a home in the hearts of many Americans. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just curious to give it a go, mate, the USAFL welcomes you with open arms. So, what are you waiting for? Lace up those boots and join the revolution—because in the world of Aussie Rules, there’s always room for one more!
