The Charlotte Blue Heelers Australian Football Club was unofficially established in 2022 through a collaboration with the North Carolina Tigers, Rome Redbacks, Virginia Lions and Wilmington Bombers with the goal of establishing Aussie Rules in Charlotte. While the initial group hosted its first ever practice match in 2023, the program re-established its current form in 2025.

Since then, the Blue Heelers have grown to over 20 players, leading the club to formally establish itself as a 501(c)(3) and an official USAFL Club in 2026. This year will showcase a full tournament schedule, with the aim to compete at USAFL Nationals in the inaugural season.

Looking ahead, the Blue Heelers aim to help foster the development of additional clubs across the Carolinas, strengthening the USAFL league and improving the quality and availability of Aussie Rules competition throughout the Southeast region.
